Hemplement

Hemplement was a collaborative research analysis project in which my group and I identified current and upcoming trends within the next 10 years, along with the signals, implications, extrapolations, etc to conceive a product/service that would succeed and be suitable for that future trend. With the newly introduced legislation legalizing hemp production as of 2018, we decided to market our product around industrial hemp, with our main focus being the re-introduction of hemp as an untaped viable material in our current ecological climate that has the potential to disrupt many other industries for its various applications and advantages. Hemplement offers hemp-based eco-friendly furniture marketed towards a new generation of people who understand that the future is in their hands and are ready to make an impact!

Mission Statement

Hemplement's goal is to influence sustainable living by providing the masses with hemp based eco-friendly furniture.

Industrial hemp is only now finally getting implemented into the market again and is slowly gaining back its notoriety for the cash crop it essentially was back before it was outlawed. The only problem is that only a small percentage of people understand the many benefits of hemp while the rest continue to mistake the crop for marijuana. The following comic short was created to clarify those misconceptions for a younger generation

Aside from furniture, the benefits of hemp needed to be presented for more than just what it can be used for, but rather, what other materials it can potentially replace. In this case, disposable plastic packaging was my main target. Using system mapping techniques, it is very clear to see just how much the production and disposal of plastic affect other systems in negative ways. From there one could see how hemp could play a vital role as a more fitting alternative where other systems would only benefit from its introduction
